PhoLove was inspected and permitted to resume operations yesterday, following an incident last week where an employee was caught on video smashing frozen ribs on cardboard behind the establishment. This video sparked public outrage and led to an investigation.
During the inspection, health officials documented numerous issues, including a significant cockroach infestation, the improper storage of chicken on the ground, and meat kept in plastic grocery bags. Concerns were also raised about the restaurant's inability to properly sanitize utensils and equipment, further compounding the hygiene problems.
The restaurant's owner initially suggested the viral video was a result of sabotage by a former employee. However, the owner later admitted the outdoor meat preparation was an isolated event caused by a lack of counter space. Yelp has since disabled reviews due to high activity, and the restaurant's Instagram page has been removed.
