Post-C-section crisis: Women suffer infections, organ failure
9 Jun
Summary
- Six women hospitalized with severe complications after C-sections.
- Complications include bleeding, infections, organ failure, and low platelets.
- Hospital claims pre-existing conditions in some of the critical cases.

Six women between the ages of 20 and 27 experienced severe health issues following C-section deliveries at PBM Hospital in Bikaner, Rajasthan, within the last two weeks. They were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit due to excessive bleeding, infections, low platelet counts, and multiple organ dysfunction.
Relatives described delayed responses to deteriorating conditions, with some women only receiving ICU care after their health significantly worsened. The hospital's superintendent, Bhikham Chand Ghiya, stated that three patients had pre-existing conditions and another was referred in critical condition.
He asserted that no post-operative or injection-related complications occurred, though a detailed investigation is ongoing to determine the exact causes. Medical experts are drawing comparisons to similar incidents in Kota last month, where five women died following C-sections due to kidney complications and other severe issues.
Officials have requested a full report from PBM Hospital to understand the circumstances. Currently, five of the six women have recovered, with one remaining in the ICU.
