DHR Health and the City of Brownsville have initiated a major hospital expansion, set to be completed in two years. This collaboration involves a $17.3 million investment by DHR Health, adding about 14,000 sq ft of new facilities, including crucial emergency and surgical capacity, to bolster local healthcare services.
The expansion will introduce six new surgical suites, six emergency room bays, and an expanded waiting area. Advanced medical equipment, such as a Siemens 1.5T MRI and a dual source CT scanner, will also be installed. These upgrades aim to improve patient care and provide greater access to specialty services.
This initiative is expected to create 20 new full-time jobs for medical professionals and support staff. The project aligns with the city's economic development goals, promising enhanced healthcare access and fostering a healthier, more resilient community for Brownsville residents.
