A 29-year-old who was diagnosed with a grade one diffuse astrocytoma in 2022 has raised awareness for brain tumours at a recent Jersey Parkrun. Following brain surgery, he has made attending Parkrun a regular part of his life.
He spoke to over 400 participants about his experience and the difference the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity made. The event aimed to give back to the charity and community, successfully merging exercise with vital health awareness.
Symptoms preceding his diagnosis included persistent headaches and migraines for eight months, followed by stuttering and memory loss. He undergoes MRI scans every six months to monitor his condition. Both the charity and the Parkrun community have been significant motivators for him.
