The patient, Prakash Acharya from Beeri, Kotekar, had suffered a severe brain injury following a fall at his home on Monday. He was admitted to Wenlock District Hospital, where he was declared brain-dead on Friday after completing all mandatory protocols.
Acharya's family made the courageous decision to donate his organs, offering hope to multiple recipients. A medical team harvested two kidneys, which will now benefit two patients undergoing dialysis.
Additionally, two corneas were retrieved, promising the gift of sight to two individuals. This successful donation process was a coordinated effort involving several medical teams and the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO).
The hospital administration expressed deep respect for the donor and heartfelt gratitude to his family for their life-affirming choice.
