Tragic Loss: Boy Dies During Routine Surgery

A nine-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday while undergoing surgery at the Government General Hospital in Kasaragod. The child, Iyas, was admitted for a navel-related issue and was scheduled for a procedure described by his family as minor.
His father, Ashraf, stated that doctors assured them of the child's good health and the need for only localized anesthesia. However, the family was later informed that Iyas had passed away during the operation.
The police have initiated a case of unnatural death, and the body is being transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital in Kannur for a post-mortem examination. Concurrently, the Health department has launched its own inquiry into the tragic incident.
