25 Feb
Summary
- A five-year-old boy died eight days after initial A&E visit.
- Family alleges systemic failures across multiple services.
- An inquest is scheduled to begin on April 13.

A family is calling for accountability following the death of their five-year-old son, Yusuf Mahmud Nazir, who passed away on November 23, 2022. Yusuf's death occurred eight days after his initial presentation at Rotherham Hospital's urgent and emergency care centre. His family contends that systemic failures across both Rotherham and Sheffield Children's Hospitals, as well as other services, contributed to his passing.
A pre-inquest review took place in Sheffield on Wednesday, with the full four-day inquest set to begin on April 13. Yusuf's uncle, Zaheer Ahmed, stated the family's desire for the truth and for those responsible to be held accountable, emphasizing they do not want the outcome to be merely "lessons learned."
