Dr. Mezher stressed that early diagnosis dramatically improves outcomes, with a 95% five-year survival rate for early-stage colorectal cancer.
He urged anyone experiencing persistent symptoms, such as changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, or bloating, to schedule an urgent doctor's appointment. He also strongly encouraged eligible individuals to participate in bowel screening programs, noting many diagnosed individuals later regretted not attending screening when invited.
