A woman's dream of plastic surgery has transformed into a devastating nightmare after undergoing an abdominoplasty and liposuction in November 2024. Eliete Regina de Aquino, 35, suffered a cardiac arrest during the procedure at an unlicensed hospital in Limeira, Brazil. Despite resuscitation, she experienced severe neurological damage, leaving her unable to move, see, or speak.
Following the surgery, Ms. Aquino was transferred to a private hospital and later to Santa Casa de Limeira, where her condition was diagnosed as severe neurological sequelae. She now requires a tracheostomy tube and constant care, with her family advocating for answers and support for her lifelong medical needs.
The family is demanding an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the botched surgery, questioning the care provided at the unlicensed facility. Civil Police are investigating the incident, while the clinic has declined to comment due to privacy laws. Ms. Aquino's dream has tragically become a harsh reality for her and her children.
