31 Oct
Summary
- A batch of blood pressure tablets has incorrect strengths.
- Patients must check blister strips for correct medication.
- Seek immediate medical advice if experiencing side effects.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a critical alert regarding a packaging error affecting Lercanidipine Hydrochloride 10mg Film-Coated Tablets. A particular batch, M2510877, has been identified where cartons may contain blister strips of the incorrect strength. This means patients prescribed the 10mg dose could inadvertently receive 20mg tablets.
Patients are strongly advised to examine the blister strips within their medication packs. If the strips are labelled as 20mg tablets, the medicine should not be taken, and a pharmacy should be contacted immediately. The MHRA notes that while 20mg is within the therapeutic range, potential side effects like dizziness, headaches, flushing, or palpitations may occur if an incorrect dose is taken. The recalled product has an expiry date of 11/2028 and was first distributed on 24/6/26.
