Wrong Blood Given: Patient's Life in Danger at Bikaner Hospital

A serious medical error allegedly occurred at the Acharya Tulsi cancer wing of PBM Hospital in Bikaner, Rajasthan, where a 75-year-old woman patient was reportedly transfused with an incompatible blood group. Bhawani Devi, admitted for severe anemia, was undergoing a blood transfusion on the evening of December 17, 2025. While the first unit of A positive blood was transfused without issue, a second unit of B positive blood was allegedly supplied by the blood bank and administered without thorough cross-checking by nursing staff.

Family members raised the alarm when they noticed the discrepancy on the blood unit, prompting an immediate halt to the transfusion and the initiation of emergency medical care. Doctors confirmed that the patient's condition stabilized following this intervention. The incident prompted an immediate response from hospital authorities, with the principal of Sardar Patel Medical College visiting the wing to assess the situation.
