31 Oct
Summary
- Bihar govt to assess heart disease prevalence via door-to-door campaign.
- Cardiac care infrastructure to be reviewed and strengthened across state.
- Focus on early diagnosis, lifestyle, and financial aid for patients.
The Bihar government is set to launch a comprehensive door-to-door awareness campaign to evaluate the prevalence of heart diseases across the state. This initiative, announced by Health Minister Nishant Kumar, also involves a thorough review of existing healthcare facilities to bolster cardiac care services. The minister expressed concern over the increasing incidence of heart attacks and sudden cardiac arrests, particularly among younger populations.
Priority will be given to early diagnosis, preventive care, and promoting healthy lifestyles. The state plans to assess hospitals for their current cardiac care infrastructure and implement necessary improvements. Financial support for economically weaker sections will be facilitated through schemes like Ayushman Bharat and the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
The Cardiological Society of India (CSI), Bihar chapter, has proposed the establishment of a 'Cardiology Commission of Bihar'. This commission would coordinate the development of cardiac healthcare, oversee medical education, manage modern equipment, and monitor facilities. It aims to ensure that advanced treatments are accessible to all, especially those with limited financial means.
