A new 500-bed medical college and hospital is rapidly taking shape in Dumraon, western Bihar. This significant healthcare infrastructure project, costing an estimated Rs515 crore, is designed to admit 100 MBBS students each year and is progressing towards a March 2026 completion date. The facility is expected to transform tertiary healthcare in the Shahabad region.
The construction spans 25.38 acres at Haryana Farm, with an approved Rs12 crore allocated for a 13.5-km approach road to ensure easy accessibility. This initiative aims to alleviate the strain on major hospitals in Patna and provide quality medical care closer to home for residents of Buxar, Ara, Rohtas, and surrounding districts.
Upon operationalization, the Dumraon Medical College and Hospital will feature regular OPD, a modern emergency department, ICUs, and advanced diagnostics. Beyond healthcare, the project is anticipated to stimulate local economic development through job creation and support for allied services, establishing a vital medical hub for the region.
