3 Sep
Summary
- Two new critical care units opened in Bihar.
- Cancer hospital receives a 12-bed ICU.
- 30-bed critical care unit opened at another hospital.

North Bihar's critical care infrastructure received a substantial upgrade on Thursday with the inauguration of two new units. Health minister Nishant Kumar officially opened a 12-bed intensive care unit (ICU) at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH&RC) in Patna.
Simultaneously, a 30-bed special critical care unit was commissioned at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur. The minister also highlighted that a 100-bed palliative care unit for advanced cancer patients is currently under construction.
These developments aim to enhance emergency and intensive care services, ensuring patients receive timely treatment locally. The HBCH&RC, a key cancer treatment center, now offers comprehensive services from diagnostics to radiation therapy, reducing the need for patients to seek care in distant metropolitan cities.
