Berkeley Medical Center's outpatient laboratory has moved to a new on-campus building, Medical Office Building 1, on its Martinsburg campus. The previous lab inside the hospital closed on June 25 and reopened in the new, more accessible location on June 29. This relocation enhances patient convenience and supports the hospital's ability to expand inpatient services.
The move also affects weekend hours, with the Medical Office Building 1 site becoming the sole Saturday option starting July 11. The Spring Mills lab will operate Monday through Friday only. This strategic shift is part of a significant $200 million campus expansion and modernization effort.
This larger project includes a new patient tower, anticipated to open in early 2028. Plans also involve increasing inpatient capacity and enhancing cancer treatment capabilities at the WVU Cancer Institute. The expansion aims to meet the growing healthcare demands in the region.
