The Chicago Bears secured a 23-12 win against the New York Jets, but the day also held significant meaning for ten Advocate Health Care breast cancer patients. These patients, accompanied by their loved ones and medical teams, were celebrated during the annual Real Bears Fans Wear Pink game held at Soldier Field.
During the halftime festivities, patients, clinicians, and supporters collectively unfurled a large pink ribbon. Two patients, Patti Hasemann and Kandee Koehler, commemorated important treatment stages with a special bell-ringing ceremony, marking their progress.
Advocate Health Care's surgical oncologist, Dr. Nikolaos Dallas, took part in the pregame coin toss. This yearly event aims to acknowledge breast cancer patients and survivors, fostering awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, the game's cancer awareness initiatives were expanded through Advocate's collaboration with the NFL's Crucial Catch campaign, now encompassing awareness for colon, cervical, prostate, and lung cancers, alongside childhood cancer.
