Baby Formula Toxin Scare: 63K Containers Recalled
6 May
Summary
- Over 63,000 containers of A2 Milk Platinum infant formula are recalled.
- The formula is recalled due to potential contamination with cereulide toxin.
- No illnesses have been reported, but parents are urged to switch brands.

More than 63,000 containers of A2 Milk Company's Platinum infant formula have been recalled following the discovery of the cereulide toxin in three batches. This bacterial toxin can induce food poisoning symptoms in infants, including nausea and vomiting.
The affected product, Platinum Premium USA 0-12 months tins, was distributed nationwide via the company's website, Amazon, and Meijer stores as part of Operation Fly Formula. While manufactured in New Zealand, the formula is exclusively sold in the U.S.
The Food and Drug Administration stated that no infant illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers with the recalled formula should promptly switch to an alternative brand and return the product for a full refund.
Parents are urged to seek medical attention for any infant experiencing nausea, vomiting, or dehydration after consuming the product. The cereulide toxin is heat-stable, meaning hot water preparation does not eliminate it, and can multiply if formula is left at room temperature.
