IF Copack LLC has issued a recall for its "Tippy Toes" brand Apple Pear Banana Fruit puree. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alerted the public after detecting elevated levels of patulin in the product. Patulin is a naturally occurring mycotoxin produced by mold, and prolonged exposure can lead to adverse health effects like immune suppression and nerve damage.
The recalled fruit puree, with a UPC of 036800 265783 and lot number 07174, was distributed to grocery stores in all U.S. states except Alaska. It was also potentially sent to U.S. territories like Puerto Rico and Guam. The product is sold in 2-pack plastic tubs with a best-by date of July 17, 2026.
Initiative Foods has stated that consumer safety is their highest priority and is cooperating with the FDA on enhanced safety measures. Customers are advised to discontinue use of the product, dispose of it, or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Retailers are instructed to remove the product from their shelves. The FDA detected the elevated patulin levels during its Total Diet Study. As of Friday, no illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
