A remarkable event unfolded on Sunday when a 25-year-old woman, Lalita Devi, successfully delivered a healthy baby boy while traveling on the Ahmedabad-Barauni Express. The unexpected labor began shortly after the train departed DDU station, with the destination being Buxar railway station.
Upon arrival at Buxar around 11 am, railway doctor Hariom Pathak and his team were prepared to assist. They boarded the S-2 coach and successfully delivered the baby on board. Both Lalita Devi and her newborn received essential medical attention at the station.
The train remained stationary at Buxar for about 30 minutes to facilitate the delivery and post-natal care. Dr. Pathak advised the parents to seek further medical observation at Buxar, but they opted to continue their journey to Danapur for the Durga Puja festival.
Under railway regulations, children born on trains are eligible for a travel pass until they reach adulthood. This timely intervention ensured the well-being of both mother and child.
