Australia has launched its first independent egg-freezing calculator, offering women evidence-based guidance on fertility options. The YourEggFreeze Estimator, developed by the University of NSW's National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU), allows women to input their age and planned freezing cycles.
This tool then generates personalized estimates of expected egg yield and a woman's probability of conceiving. It is funded by the federal government and aims to counter widespread misunderstandings about IVF success rates, particularly the notion that a specific quantity of frozen eggs ensures a successful pregnancy. The number of women opting for egg freezing has significantly increased, now representing 13% of annual IVF cycles.
