Aurora Doctors Answer 911 for Minor Issues
4 Feb
Summary
- Aurora launches virtual doctor option for non-emergency 911 calls.
- This program aims to speed up care and free up ambulances.
- Patients can receive advice, prescriptions, or referrals virtually.

Starting February 4, 2026, Aurora residents can opt for virtual medical consultations when calling 911 for non-emergency situations. Aurora Fire Rescue and Aurora911 have introduced Aurora Clinical Navigation, a program partnering with MD Ally to connect eligible callers to licensed physicians via phone or video.
The program targets low-acuity medical calls, such as minor injuries or mild flu symptoms, that do not require immediate ambulance or fire engine dispatch. This approach ensures faster access to medical advice and can help divert resources to more critical emergencies.
Physicians can offer medical advice, issue prescriptions, or arrange for transportation and referrals to urgent care. This service is designed to be significantly more affordable than traditional emergency room visits and ambulance transport. Calls involving serious symptoms like chest pain or difficulty breathing are automatically excluded.
This initiative is expected to divert approximately 15 calls daily, representing about 1.5% of the total call volume. Aurora Clinical Navigation also supports nearly 250 languages, ensuring accessibility for diverse communities.
