Kiersten Peterson recently shared a poignant 40-second video of her late 6-year-old daughter, Aspen, capturing her joyful spirit before a rare cancer diagnosis.
Aspen was diagnosed with stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma in July 2023, a rare and aggressive muscle cancer. Her initial flu-like symptoms worsened, leading to the discovery of a tumor.
Her treatment journey involved periods in Florida and Boston, including intensive chemotherapy. Despite remission for 10 months, Aspen relapsed, with the cancer spreading to her lungs and lymph nodes.
Facing a declining health state, Peterson made the difficult decision to move Aspen to hospice care. The mother focused on providing normalcy and comfort during her daughter's final months.
Aspen passed away on March 3, 2026, leaving her mother to cherish their time together and care for her son. Peterson's message emphasizes cherishing children and maintaining faith.
