Asda Raises Mounjaro Prices Ahead of National Hike
29 Aug
Summary
- Asda increases Mounjaro prices before national price rise
- Eli Lilly to raise Mounjaro price by 170% starting next week
- Pharmacies offering discounted rates to attract customers

As of August 29, 2025, the supermarket chain Asda has raised the price of the weight-loss drug Mounjaro at its pharmacies, ahead of a national price increase scheduled for next week. This decision was made after Asda exhausted its stock purchased at the "old price" from the manufacturer, Eli Lilly.
Eli Lilly had announced earlier this month that it would be raising the price of Mounjaro by a staggering 170%, with the last orders on the lower-cost version ending on August 30th. While Eli Lilly expects the drug to be offered at a discounted rate by most sellers, the new price will still be more than double the current cost.
Asda says it had ordered as much Mounjaro stock as possible from the manufacturer, but due to "high demand," the company has now run out of the lower-priced inventory. As a result, all new stock being delivered to Asda is at the higher cost, forcing the supermarket to increase the price for new customer requests.
In response to the impending price hike, pharmacies across the UK appear to have started a price war, with Boots announcing its own Mounjaro pricing from September 1st. This suggests that customers are actively seeking the best deal on the in-demand weight-loss drug.
