Apollo Hospitals founder-chairman Prathap C. Reddy emphasized the need to deliver healthcare to the farthest reaches of the country. The 'Total Health' model, a CSR initiative launched in Aragonda, Andhra Pradesh, in 2013, has evolved into a comprehensive community development program. This integrated approach combines healthcare, preventive health, education, nutrition, and skill development, impacting over 483 million people.
The Aragonda hospital, established in 2000, has reached a significant milestone by completing its 1,000th total knee replacement surgery without any infections. This achievement highlights the quality of care provided in rural settings. The hospital has served over 1.67 lakh patients and performed more than 12,000 surgeries.
Executives Preetha Reddy and Sangita Reddy highlighted the model's success in bridging the rural-urban divide by creating a replicable and scalable health ecosystem. Upasana Kamineni Konidela noted that this community-led healthcare model serves as a blueprint for sustainable change in underserved regions across India.
