The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced a novel digital health portal, 'APS HWP', catering to adolescents between 13 and 19 years old. This initiative, developed under the Andhra Pradesh School Health and Wellness Programme, aims to enhance preventive health awareness among students by providing self-learning modules.
The portal features e-modules on a wide array of critical topics, including personal hygiene, mental health, gender equality, HIV awareness, substance abuse, road safety, nutrition, and safe internet use. Content is delivered through short videos in Telugu and English, complemented by interactive game-based learning and quizzes, with certificates awarded for scores above 80%.
This program is supported by training for educators in government schools and junior colleges across districts. The Health and Family Welfare Commissioner emphasized the portal's role in delivering reliable information and preventing misinformation. Currently, over 36,000 students have registered, predominantly girls, underscoring the platform's reach and relevance.
