Antiques Roadshow Expert Dies After Brain Cancer Battle

Antiques Roadshow ceramics and glass expert Theo Burrell passed away peacefully on Wednesday at the age of 39, surrounded by her family. Four years prior, in June 2022, she was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer that typically has a short life expectancy.

Despite a prognosis of 12-18 months, Burrell witnessed significant life events, including her son's first day of school and her wedding. She underwent treatments including surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, and became a passionate advocate for increased government funding, improved diagnostic times, and advancements in clinical trials for brain tumour research. She also served as a patron for the charity Brain Tumour Research.

Burrell had spoken about her initial symptoms, which began in late 2021, including severe headaches, sickness, and vision problems. She emphasized the importance of hope and awareness for others battling the disease, leaving behind a legacy of determination and advocacy in the face of a terminal illness for which treatments have seen little advancement in two decades.
