Andhra Pradesh Boosts Girls' Health with HPV Vaccines

Andhra Pradesh has received a significant shipment of 1,90,890 doses of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. This marks the second phase of distribution, with further allocation to districts based on their specific needs.
The vaccination program, aimed at protecting 14-year-old girls from HPV infections and cervical cancer, is a nationwide Central initiative. It is currently underway and scheduled to continue until May.
Across Andhra Pradesh, 3.45 lakh girls in the target age group are identified. As of Monday afternoon, 1,14,512 of these girls, representing 33.19%, have received their vaccine doses.
Kurnool district leads in vaccine administration with 6,785 doses given, followed closely by SPSR Nellore, YSR Kadapa, and Anantapur. The vaccines are being administered at 1,645 primary and urban health centers equipped with necessary cold chain facilities.
Encouragingly, the state health minister reported no instances of adverse reactions to the vaccine have been observed thus far. This program is crucial for long-term public health outcomes.
