The Andhra Pradesh government is committed to achieving the ambitious 95-95-99 targets for HIV/AIDS control by December 2026. These goals, adopted by the Union government, require that 95% of individuals living with HIV know their status, 95% of those diagnosed are receiving treatment, and 99% of those on treatment have a suppressed viral load.
Currently, the state has reached 88% awareness, 87% on treatment, and 96.2% viral suppression. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has directed officials to address any existing gaps to meet the final targets.
To aid this effort, the Suraksha Dashboard was unveiled, providing a transparent view of HIV control program progress across all districts. This tool will pinpoint areas needing accelerated intervention and special attention.
An intensified two-month awareness campaign, organized by AP SACS, is underway. It includes outreach in educational institutions and villages, utilizing folk arts, social media, and pamphlets. A key focus is on testing women and preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
