Andhra Pradesh has secured a record ₹185.75 crore from the National AYUSH Mission for the 2026-27 fiscal year, significantly enhancing traditional medicine systems. This marks the largest allocation the state has received since the mission's inception in 2014. The funding will support various expansions, including the introduction of 19 Mobile AYUSH Medical Units at a cost of ₹1.26 crore.
These mobile units will extend healthcare services to tribal and remote communities across nine Integrated Tribal Development Agencies. Furthermore, the state plans to digitize AYUSH dispensaries, equip medical officers with laptops, and establish alcohol de-addiction centers at four government teaching hospitals. Yoga wellness centers will also be set up in key locations to address mental health and stress-related issues.
Additional initiatives include establishing an AYUSH Sports Medicine Centre of Excellence in Kadapa to aid athlete recovery. The allocation also earmarks substantial funds for modernizing existing dispensaries, providing free medicines, and supporting AYUSH education and infrastructure, including a new college and hospital in Visakhapatnam.
