Over the last year, Andhra Pradesh's 108 emergency ambulance services successfully assisted 7.79 lakh individuals. This vital network responded to a multitude of emergencies between June 2025 and May 2026, employing advanced technology for swift medical intervention.
Road accidents led the statistics, with 1.13 lakh victims receiving critical on-site care and transportation. The service was also instrumental in maternal healthcare, safely transporting 1.05 lakh pregnant women, thereby contributing to reduced mortality rates.
Beyond accident response and maternal care, the 108 teams handled numerous other critical cases. These included over 97,000 respiratory distress cases, nearly 50,000 non-vehicular injuries, and over 45,000 cardiac emergencies. The advanced life support systems on board enabled EMTs to transmit vital patient data to hospitals en route, enhancing survival chances.
The service is committed to expanding its reach and enhancing capabilities. Future plans include deploying more advanced life support ambulances and intensifying training for emergency medical technicians.
