AMR Threatens Critical Care: Experts Demand Action

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as a serious threat to critical care services. In response, experts convened at Criticare 2026, the annual conference of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM).

This significant event saw participation from over 3,000 delegates and 300 national and international faculty. The primary focus was to address and improve infection management within intensive care units (ICUs).

Key recommendations from the experts included the implementation of stronger infection prevention practices. They also stressed the importance of rational antibiotic use and called for coordinated national action. This action is needed across all levels of healthcare to effectively combat the rising challenge of AMR.
