Amnesia Man Wakes in Florida, Ex-Wife Rebuilds His Life

A man was discovered unconscious and stripped of all identification in a Florida gas station bathroom, awakening with complete amnesia. Authorities were unable to identify him until facial recognition software revealed his identity as Darrell Powell, a Pennsylvania resident. His ex-wife, Abi Knaub, with whom he had lost contact for over ten years, was contacted as his only known relative.

Knaub has since taken on the significant challenge of helping Powell reconstruct his life. After an extended hospital stay and diagnosis of amnesia likely caused by a brain aneurysm, Powell was discharged with no memory of his past. He currently resides in a homeless shelter, his possessions gone and his vehicle facing repossession.

Despite the mysteries surrounding his arrival in Florida and the uncertainty of memory recovery, Knaub is committed to supporting Powell. A fundraiser has been initiated to assist with essential needs, including temporary housing and clothing, as Powell begins the daunting process of starting anew without any recollection of his former life.
