- Digital PET scan will enhance cancer diagnosis accuracy for patients.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has mandated the expedited installation of a digital PET scan machine at Ambala Cancer Hospital. Officials have been given a 15-day deadline to finalize tender conditions for the advanced equipment. This upgrade aims to strengthen cancer diagnosis and treatment capabilities at the key healthcare institution.
The chief minister emphasized replacing the older analogue machine proposal with a digital PET scan system to ensure more accurate imaging. A PET scan is crucial for detecting cancer, staging the disease, identifying spread, and assessing treatment effectiveness. Saini also directed that PET scan charges be kept affordable, noting that Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries will receive free services.
Transport Minister Anil Vij highlighted that the hospital serves patients from Haryana and six to seven neighboring states. He pointed out the hardship caused by shifting patients for tests and noted that the hospital's existing systems are more advanced than some at PGI Chandigarh. The new PET scan machine will enable comprehensive, in-house cancer care.
