Governor Phagu Chauhan, addressing the second convocation of AIIMS-Patna, called upon graduates to bolster healthcare in rural India. He emphasized that despite infrastructure improvements, medical science in underserved areas still needs significant development. Chauhan expressed hope that AIIMS-Patna will soon become a leading center of excellence, minimizing patient referrals to other cities.
The governor encouraged the young doctors to integrate innovation, research, and technology into their practice while upholding compassion and professional integrity. He likened medicine to the "noblest profession," urging them to balance career aspirations with societal contributions.
Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, referred to doctors as "living gods," advising them to earn public trust. AIIMS-Patna’s Executive Director, Raju Agarwal, highlighted upcoming expansions, including a 50-bedded burn hospital opening next month and a 150-bedded critical care block by year-end. The institute also plans to acquire more land for specialized blocks.
AIIMS-Patna has achieved significant milestones, including 13 renal transplants and Bihar's first successful liver transplant. The institute, established in 2012, now sees an average daily footfall of 4,000-4,500 patients. Medallions and degrees were awarded to numerous graduates across various super-specialty, postgraduate, MBBS, and nursing streams.
