New All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are expected to progressively set global benchmarks in patient care and medical education, while upholding the core values of the AIIMS system. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda articulated this vision during a leadership conclave for new AIIMS presidents and executive directors.
The minister stressed the importance of a balanced focus on patient care, teaching, and research, advocating for a strengthened patient-centric model. He highlighted the necessity of structured patient feedback mechanisms to enhance satisfaction and foster mutual support among AIIMS institutions for coordinated growth.
Furthermore, Nadda encouraged the adoption of advanced technologies, including AI in diagnostics and clinical decision-making, and the institutionalization of telemedicine services. The establishment and maintenance of affordable medicine facilities like Jan Aushadhi Kendras and AMRIT Pharmacies in every AIIMS were also emphasized to ensure accessibility.
