AI Boosts Patient Care, Saves Time and Money
10 Jun
Summary
- AI is improving patient care accuracy and efficiency.
- Clinicians can see five more patients weekly using AI.
- AI training remains limited or unavailable for many.

Artificial intelligence is significantly improving the accuracy of patient care and is projected to save healthcare systems both time and money. According to a survey, AI adoption has led to increased labor productivity, with clinicians able to manage an average of five additional patients per week.
About 30% of doctors surveyed reported material budget savings attributed to AI. Furthermore, 27% of clinicians noted AI's role in identifying potential medical errors at least three times in the past three months. However, a critical barrier remains, as 77% of responding clinicians stated that AI training was unavailable, limited, or inconsistent.
While AI is largely employed for administrative tasks like data compilation and scheduling, its application in complex decision-making is still primarily handled by clinicians. Patients are increasingly using AI for health advice, though research suggests it is not superior to other methods for healthcare decisions. Some health insurers have raised concerns about AI potentially triggering inappropriate reimbursement increases.
