20 Mar
Summary
- AI glasses identify objects and provide prompts for dementia patients.
- Three out of four trial participants reported significant life improvement.
- London-based team CrossSense won the Longitude Prize on Dementia.

Innovative artificial intelligence glasses have been developed to support individuals with early-stage dementia, enabling them to maintain independence. These lightweight glasses, weighing only 75g, identify objects and provide prompts via their lenses to assist with daily activities. The AI companion, 'Wispy,' learns and adapts to each user's needs as their condition evolves.
Clinical trials demonstrated a significant positive impact, with three out of four participants reporting improvements in their lives. The developers, CrossSense, a London-based team, were awarded the prestigious Longitude Prize on Dementia, receiving £1 million. This funding will be used to further research and development, with wider availability anticipated for local authorities, care providers, and NHS memory clinics early next year.
