Rajasthan Hospital Pioneers AI Cochlear Implant

In a significant medical advancement for Rajasthan, an artificial intelligence-based smart cochlear implant was successfully implanted in a three-year-old girl at the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences. This marks the first time such a procedure has been performed in a government hospital within the state.

The successful surgery, lasting nearly three hours, has left the young patient stable. Medical professionals anticipate she will begin to hear and speak within approximately 21 days. This development holds promise for numerous hearing-impaired children across Rajasthan, offering new treatment avenues.

The advanced implant features a high-speed processing chip for improved sound quality and smart nerve technology for precise surgical placement. Its internal components are designed to function for up to 30 years, with the external processor's battery lasting about three years, offering a long-term solution for hearing restoration.
