Dengue Alert: Ahmedabad Preps for Monsoon Surge

As of May 25, 2026, Ahmedabad has recorded 110 dengue cases, well before the monsoon season typically begins. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a comprehensive pre-monsoon action plan to address potential outbreaks of dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.

This proactive measure comes after a significant number of cases, with 104 reported at government facilities and six at private ones. The city has also seen 54 cases of malaria (Pv) and 11 of malaria (PF) this year. Last year, 2025, saw 1,591 dengue cases and a combined 961 malaria cases.

The AMC has identified 577 mosquito breeding spots since January, issuing notices and penalties to 88 construction sites. Authorities are conducting fever surveys and contact tracing, broadcasting public awareness messages via smart city displays and cinema halls.

Operational efforts include 274 fogging machines. Preventive actions involve removing potential breeding grounds like tires and debris, monitoring pond vegetation, and conducting checks at various public and commercial units. Citizens can report mosquito breeding through a comprehensive complaint system.
