Wrong Hand Plastered: Agra Hospital Blunder
2 May
Summary
- Doctors plastered a child's healthy hand instead of the fractured one.
- An X-ray had confirmed the fracture on the middle finger.
- Hospital administration acknowledged the mistake and issued a notice.

A four-year-old boy in Agra is at the center of an alleged medical negligence case involving District Bagla Hospital. The child sustained an injury to his middle finger while playing at home, and subsequent X-rays confirmed a fracture.
However, hospital staff reportedly applied a plaster cast to the boy's healthy right hand, overlooking the confirmed fracture on the other. This error was identified by the child's father, Kanhaiya Kumar, when his son's pain persisted after returning home.
Chief medical superintendent Surya Prakash has acknowledged the hospital's lapse and stated that they are in contact with the family to correct the treatment. A show-cause notice has been issued to the doctor involved, and the district magistrate has ordered the health department to take appropriate action.
