Affordable Medicines Expand Nationwide: 10 New AMRIT Pharmacies Launched

On November 15, 2025, the Indian government announced the launch of 10 new AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) pharmacies, further expanding the network of affordable healthcare facilities across the country. The AMRIT program, which was launched in 2015, has now grown to over 255 outlets spanning 24 states and 4 union territories.
The new AMRIT pharmacies will be located at various healthcare institutions, including the PGI Neuroscience Centre in Chandigarh, GMCH Unit-II in Jammu, the State Cancer Institute in Jammu, AIIMS Deogarh, Dental Hospital Srinagar, SCTIMST in Trivandrum, Mumbai Port Trust, IIT Jodhpur, AIIMS Gorakhpur, and AIIMS Kalyani Unit 3.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who inaugurated the new pharmacies, highlighted the significant impact of the AMRIT program in making quality medicines and medical devices accessible and affordable for the people. The AMRIT pharmacies offer discounts of up to 50% on essential medicines, life-saving drugs, and specialized medical products, covering areas such as oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, and endocrinology.
Since its inception, the AMRIT network has dispensed over 17,000 crore medicines, resulting in cumulative patient savings of more than Rs 8,500 crore. Nadda emphasized the government's commitment to further expanding the AMRIT network, with a goal of doubling the number of outlets to at least 500 in the near future.
