Prairie Sky Recovery Centre, established in 2008, has provided treatment for approximately 150 individuals annually. The center's founding was deeply personal, initiated by Ardyth Wilson, who successfully navigated her own recovery from alcohol addiction.
Wilson acquired a former school building in Leipzig, Sask., envisioning it as a sanctuary for those facing similar struggles. Her daughters recall the building needing extensive rehabilitation, mirroring their mother's own recovery journey.
Wilson's daughters, Jacqueline Hoffman and Melanie Brown, along with granddaughter Rebekah Dunford, now manage the facility. They are dedicated to upholding Wilson's mission, fostering hope and purpose for clients.
Currently, the center exclusively serves men. This change, implemented since early June, aims to destigmatize men's mental health discussions and create a safe space for them to share their experiences.
