Global health leaders convened in New York on September 27, 2026, for the Future Health - A Global Initiative by Abu Dhabi dialogue. The meeting, held during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, focused on redesigning health systems to prioritize prediction and prevention for better population health outcomes.
Participants from numerous nations identified four critical requirements for effective prevention: enhanced population data for early risk identification, robust financing and incentives, strengthened delivery capacity for timely services, and inclusive systems reaching all individuals. Prevention was recognized as a vital investment in human capital.
H.E. Ahmed Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of Health and Prevention, stressed that scientific insights must translate into earlier action. Abu Dhabi's 'Healthy Living Strategy' was presented as a model, integrating health data and cross-sectoral initiatives to embed healthier choices in communities, workplaces, and schools.
The initiative's white paper, 'The Future of Healthy Living: A $16.4 Trillion Opportunity,' highlights that many health drivers lie outside traditional healthcare. Future Health is a year-round platform fostering global collaboration, with the next Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit scheduled for October 20-22, 2026.
