Life-Saving Heart Races Through 95km Inter-State Green Corridor

In a remarkable feat of coordination, a donor heart was transported across a 95-kilometer inter-state green corridor in a mere 63 minutes. The crucial organ journeyed from Rohtak, Haryana, to Delhi on Thursday to facilitate an emergency transplant at Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh.

The retrieval process commenced at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak, with the medical team departing at 7:40 PM and arriving at the Delhi hospital by 8:43 PM. This seamless operation was orchestrated by the Haryana and Delhi police, ensuring an uninterrupted path for the ambulance carrying the vital organ.

Officials noted that the process began earlier in the day when the hospital was alerted by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) about the availability of a heart for a B-positive recipient. After confirming a suitable match and receiving formal allocation, the medical team traveled to Rohtak for the retrieval before returning the heart to Delhi for the transplant.
