More than 70 students experienced illness, suspected to be food poisoning, after consuming semi-cooked idly and sambar at the Government Tribal Welfare Ashram School in Devarapalli, Polavaram district. The incident occurred on Saturday, prompting immediate action from authorities.
The affected students were promptly transferred to the Rampachodavaram Area Hospital and other nearby health facilities after complaining of severe vomiting and stomach ache. Polavaram district in-charge Collector A. S. Dinesh Kumar confirmed that food poisoning is the suspected cause and assured that all students are now out of danger.
Investigations are underway, with water and food samples collected for testing. The state's Health Minister, Satya Kumar Yadav, spoke with district officials on Saturday, emphasizing the need for comprehensive treatment and offering to send additional medical specialists if required. He also inquired about the condition of all affected students.
