As paramedics from UT Health East Texas approached, Emi stayed on the phone with her grandparents, relaying information and guiding the first responders to their apartment. Her grandparents had previously coached her on how to seek help in such critical situations. Wilkie recalled her daughter's comforting presence, rubbing her hair and saying, "Mommy, it's gonna be okay."
