Twenty-one girl students of a minority residential school in Sindhanur, located in Raichur, fell ill on Thursday after consuming their breakfast. The students, residing at the Morarji Desai Residential School, reported symptoms such as dizziness, stomach pain, and vomiting shortly after eating vegetable pulao.
Authorities were alerted and promptly transferred the affected students to the Mother and Child Hospital in Sindhanur for immediate medical attention. Allegations quickly arose that worms were discovered in the breakfast pulao, raising serious concerns about food quality and hygiene standards within the hostel's mess.
An inquiry has been ordered by officials, who also collected food samples for testing. While initial reports suggested widespread illness, the district health officer clarified that only a few students initially experienced severe symptoms, with others developing similar complaints later. All 21 students admitted have since recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
