Indira Gandhi Govt Medical College and Hospital (IGGMC) in Nagpur has reached a significant milestone, completing 125 cochlear implant surgeries. This achievement positions the hospital as a prominent public sector provider of advanced hearing care. Beneficiaries of the program have gone on to excel in diverse fields, including athletics and higher education, demonstrating the transformative impact of these implants. The initiative, which began in 2017, was recently highlighted during World Hearing Day.

Doctors at IGGMC stressed the importance of early detection and intervention for hearing loss in children to prevent developmental delays. The hospital's Dean urged local authorities to replicate these efforts in rural Nagpur to ensure wider access.
