A devastating case has emerged where a 12-year-old girl, Azzurra Breda, died from pneumonia. She was initially taken to a paediatric A&E department with a fever and breathing difficulties but was sent home, with medics suspecting the flu. Her condition deteriorated rapidly at home, marked by a soaring temperature of 40C.
The following day, her parents rushed her back to A&E, leading to her admission to intensive care. Sadly, she passed away from pneumonia on December 31st, just two days after her first hospital visit. Investigations have commenced, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for today, January 12th.
Azzurra was remembered as an athletic and energetic dancer and pianist, with no pre-existing health conditions. Her parents and younger sister survive her. Mayor Guido Carlin also paid tribute to her active involvement in village life and her bright smile.
