Charity Auctions Off Iconic Offroad Vehicle After a Decade of Service

In a move to offer a new visitor experience, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is auctioning off a 1978 Unimog offroad vehicle that has been a fixture at the Spurn Point nature reserve for the past decade. The multipurpose vehicle has transported thousands of visitors around the reserve during its 10 years of service.
The charity, which manages wildlife and habitats across Yorkshire, recently retired the Unimog and is now inviting sealed bids for the iconic offroad vehicle. According to Helen Jones, the head of visitor services, the sale will provide an opportunity to "offer a different experience for our visitors" while also generating funds to support the trust's conservation efforts.
The proceeds from the auction will be used to help preserve and protect wildlife and wild places across Yorkshire. The Unimog, which has become a familiar sight at Spurn Point, will soon find a new home as the trust looks to the future and the next chapter in its mission to safeguard the region's natural heritage.
